Cascina Principe - Vacca

Cascina Principe - Vacca

In the second half of the last century, the historic underground cellar was enlarged thanks to the commitment of Luigi’s son: Mario, an Alpine veteran from the Second World War.

His example was then followed by his son Giuseppe. Towards the end of the eighties, he enlarged the company and gradually increased the vineyards, cultivating them with the utmost respect for the environment, according to integrated agriculture methods.

Today the heirs, Federico (Agronomist) and Stefano (Winemaker), continue the business with the passion of producing a wine linked to tradition, but in step with innovation.

Description

Barbaresco wine embodies all the characteristics of the territory from which it originates, preserving them over time. Only the best Nebbiolo grapes are harvested and taken to the cellar where this natural and extraordinary transformation takes place which is completed only after 2 years of minimum aging in large oak barrels.
The importance of this wine derives from its ability to improve over the years. The young wine is at least 3 years old, it can be refined in the bottle, improving its characteristics for many years, so much so that it is not possible to date a possible gustatory maturity.
Our vineyards are located in three sub-zones of Neive: the central nucleus around the farmhouse belongs to the geographical mention Gaia-Principe. The other vineyards belong to the Currà and Cottà subzones.

APPELLATIONBarbera 100%
YEAR2021
PROFILEBarbera is a robust wine, very rich and tasty. It has a strong purplish color which tends to reduce with ageing. The typical aroma is of red fruits, often cooked like jam. The taste releases its strong acidity, mitigated by a high softness. The lower tannic content makes it more delicate on the palate.
COLORRed
VOLUME750ml

Description

It is the most cultivated vine in Piedmont. Quite productive, it requires optimal years and good management of the vineyard to allow for correct ripening of the bunches.
With its rough character, Barbera is the traditional wine consumed by our ancestors. It can age for a few years, but its low tannic content does not allow it to be a long aging wine.

Its characteristic bouquet is able to amaze with aromas of fruits such as green apple, white peach and flowers. Of the Langhe vines it is the least suitable for aging and owes its best characteristics to its youth and freshness.
None of the company’s white vines is harvested in advance, so as to allow for greater ripening of the grapes and lower acidity of the wine.
